Laura is a native to Walla Walla, Washington. Life moved her away for a time, but she has returned to the Valley to introduce Right Choice Coaching and Consulting, LLC. She is a born-again Christian who has a heart for children and education.

A couple years after graduating from Walla Walla High School, she moved to Olympia, Washington. Once she began her family, she chose to be a stay-at-home mother who devoted herself to raising her three children. From preschool to Sunday School to elementary school, Laura found herself supporting and serving not only her children but other children in the community.

In the late 1990s, God called her to a staff position at church in Children’s Ministry. She created, developed, and implemented a curriculum and mid week kid’s ministry for 3rd through 6th grade. With much planning, and a lot of prayer, a ministry was launched. God greatly blessed this ministry!

Later, Laura began working in public education as Impact Teaching Assistant. During a conversation with the school principal, Laura was strongly encouraged to get her degree in education. With additional encouragement from the educators and a leading from God, she began the road to obtaining her K-8 Elementary Education BA and Literacy/Reading Minor.

Laura graduated Summa Cum Laude from Central Washington University. She began teaching 6th grade the following fall. Her qualifications include, but not limited to:

  • K-8 Elementary Education, CWU
  • K-12 Reading and Literacy Minor Endorsement, CWU
  • Professional Certification
  • Masters, WWG
  • Math Fellow, WA
  • ELA Emeritus Fellow, WA
  • Various certifications
  • Individualized Tutoring

Tutoring students became a passion in the after school hours. Laura watches struggling kids with absolutely no confidence become better mathematicians and writers. Students and parents enjoy working with and love seeing the confidence and skill set improve through a variety of instructional methods tailored to the child.

“[Ms. Boyd’s] dedication to helping kids understand and feel confident in their work has no boundaries…” ~D. R., former student

Laura watched the changes in public education throughout her children’s education, and as an educator, she saw the curtain pulled back on the federal policies, No Child Left Behind (NCLB), Common Core, and Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA). Laura taught with integrity and her values in a system that didn’t always align.

…I am a Christian educator, who spent years working in and out of the public schools, and I have seen what works…and what doesn’t.

When the pandemic brought major changes in education in the spring of 2020, it also brought major changes to Laura’s life. She has returned back to the Walla Walla Valley to be closer to family and to support families who want a high quality education experience for their children.

“After several years as a classroom teacher and private tutor, it is now my goal to bless and help families who are seeking more for their children.”

Laura strongly believes that parents should be the primary educators, but also understands that parents need someone more qualified or with the knowledge to help their children with specific and necessary skills. This is where Laura can use her expertise and resources to help your child. If you would like more information or a free consultation to see if we can find the Right Choice for you, click below.
